RIWBA announces 2010 winner of the Ada Sawyer Award

Tracy C. Baran was announced as the 2010 Ada Sawyer Award Winner.

Tracy C. Baran is partner at Partridge Snow & Hahn in providence who focuses her practice in the areas of real estate and commercial lending. Tracy chairs the WAVE (Women AdVocates for Enterprise) Initiative at Partridge Snow & Hahn, which is a women’s initiative seeking not only to promote the advancement of women within the firm, but also women within the market place.

During Tracy’s career, she has demonstrated an unparalleled commitment to advancing women in the Rhode Island community. In addition to her role in WAVE, Tracy is the Communications Council Director, as well as past president, of the Junior League of Rhode Island, an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Tracy is Secretary of the Executive Women’s Golf Association, an active member of Leading Women, is on the Board of Directors of Amos House, Secretary of the Mission in Action Committee of Central Congregational Church, member of the Advisory Council for the Roger Williams Pro Bono Collaborative, and has volunteered at The Center for Women and Enterprise and St. Mary’s Home for Children. In addition to her widespread community service activities, Tracy has written articles and spoken at seminars targeted at reaching women and educating the community about issues that affect women at forums such as the Massachusetts State Office of Minority and Women Business Assistance, the Roger Williams School of Law Women’s Law Society, the Emerging Women in Business Conference, the Rhode Island Society of CPA’s, and the Center for Women and Enterprise.

Tracy’s unquestionable dedication to her community and her work has earned her many recognitions, including PBN’s Woman to Watch Award, Junior League of Rhode Island President’s Award, Super Lawyer’s Rising Star Award, Big Sisters of Rhode Island “40 Magical Women We Admire” Award, West Elmwood Development Corporation’s Unsung Hero Award, PBN’s 40 Under 40 Award, Junior League of Rhode Island Community Service Award, Girls Scouts of America Gold Award, BU Professional Responsibility Award and YWCA’s Women of Achievement Award.

Tracy has also been a very important part of the RIWBA. Tracy was the President of the RIWBA from 2005-2006, and has not only remained on the Board, but also heads the RIWBA’s mentoring committee.
